House Beautiful

I said earlier this week, I’d post the little quotation from Bill Ingram’s interview that I found so charming on the subject of buying furniture & antiques. Well here you go —

Bill Ingram is a Birmingham, Alabama architect who I began to admire when I saw his lake house in Southern Accents a number of years ago. It, like his Mountain Brook home, is incredibly charming. His 1,400 square foot cottage is featured in the July/August 2011 issue of House Beautiful, and if you haven’t read it already, go buy it! I have to agree with Bailey of Peppermint Bliss when I say it’s the best issue of HB so far this year. The only thing I can complain about is that it’s a double issue, so I don’t have another one to read until September. Double issues are the worst.

Also, here are some more images of Bill Ingram’s home that I saved to Pinterest.

Catching Up

I mentioned in this post that I needed to focus on taking care of myself. I recently found out I have a hiatal hernia, which is much more painful than I would have imagined. Because of an endoscopy, I spent a little extra time in bed this week. The good news is that I was able to catch up on some of these:

I love the colorfully, casual, but glamorous feel House Beautiful has been touting recently. I’m addicted to color, and this title has been really fueling the fire.

I also really like the serial makeover they’re doing with Bee Cottage — showing us a different space in the home each month. What a genius idea. Here’s a little sneak peek of what’s on the agenda tomorrow:

I spent Easter in Savannah, and boy! did I take some pictures while I was there. Look forward to a whole playground of photos tomorrow. It feels good to be back!
